Anglo Nubian Goats in Malaysia

Lucky to visit this farm in Malaysia where we recently delivered some high-quality Australian Anglo-Nubian Dairy Goats.
Shortening the Supply Chain

One of the key values of our business is to “Shorten the Supply Chain”. We supply quality Australian livestock all over the world, but farmers are both end of the supply chain always want to know more about where their livestock comes from and where they go to. The more we can share this information up and down the supply chain, the closer each end becomes and we can use this understanding to improve breeding and care for the livestock in their final market.
At this farm we discussed nutrition and health management, handling and managing shy feeders.
Aussie Angus in Malaysia

We have made a couple of deliveries of Angus breeding cattle from Australian to Malaysia over the last year or so. Here is a pair that were delivered as weaners last year. Looking great!
Japanese Wagyu Cattle

We visited several feedlots in Japan to see how our cattle were doing and always learn a little more about the Japanese way of feeding.
A5 Japanese Wagyu Beef

This Kagoshima Japanese wagyu beef carcass was a real stand-out. The photo does not really do it justice unless you zoom right in.
Australian Wagyu Cattle

I love meeting Japanese farmers who are passionate and take enormous pride in everything they do. Mr Ariki was a true cattleman and the small things he does are clear and always result in good carcass data. So grateful for his time.

We recently took delivery of a brand new MIJ Carcass grading camera to increase the volume and quality of carcass data to assist some of our Wagyu farmers.
The two big benefits we see:
1. Ability to identify elite animals within 9+ grading – differentiate your MBS10 from MBS14 carcasses
2. More accurate and significant differences in EMA
On the road again!

Last week we hit the road again travelling throughout Queensland and New South Wales visiting Wagyu farmers supplying our Japanese livestock export business. This shot of the sky between Casino and Lismore was too good to miss.
Feeding and Nutrition

Although in most places the drought is well behind us, it is great to see the increasing use of supplementation of calves, weaners and cows in better seasons to ensure a continuously rising plane of nutrition and the resulting improvements to weight gains, pasture and fodder usage and the transition to feeding programmes once they leave the farm.

What's behind the brand?

I used to think that plastering your brand all over everything was unnecessary boasting for big companies with big marketing budgets. But as my own business grows and customers and suppliers appreciate and align with our values, it’s something to be proud of and people are starting to seek it out.
The other thing I like is the accountability it brings – because I work even harder to make sure the livestock and service delivered with this stamp on the box must be top quality that adds value.
If I’m not proud enough to put my stamp on it, I won’t sell it.
